N.H.D Historical Archives Section stores, a rich archival material in different forms (documents ,microfilms, photos, etc) all associated with significant historical periods of the Greek nation’s naval history (Balkan wars – 2nd W.W, etc). The specific section is responsible for a wide range of projects – initiatives aimed at continuous enrichment of the historical archives of the department, the optimal utilization of the historical material and the establishment of structures for optimum recording accuracy and integrated archives storage methods (digitization). At the same time N.H.D Historical Archives Section cooperates and fulfills requests from researchers, handles issues relating to historical nature of the Hellenic Navy in cooperation with H.N.G.S having at the same time partnerships with organizations and institutions relevant to the field of Maritime History by taking part in innovative activities such as reconstruction of historical naval relics or surveys regarding detection and research of war ships wrecks.
